As I'm sure a lot of you know, I participated in Inktober this month. My own rules were to create a greyscale/black and white drawing every day before midnight, following the official prompts here. 

I experimented with a lot of styles in the month, ranging from using references to creating cutesy drawings from scratch. I've noticed some patterns in my daily drawings, such as a lot of animals and use of crosshatching. Some of the drawings I'm proud of, some I really rushed. Yesterday, I posted at 12:20 AM, not following my initial rules. However, thinking about it, I don't think posting by a certain time is important for these types of challenges, for me. I have a lot of respect for those like Picolo-kun and Cryptid-Creations who can make it by a certain time, but for me it just unnecessarily stresses me out, especially because I stay up past midnight a lot.

Other stuff I've learned from Inktober:
I have a weird interest in bugs? I drew so many!
Rushing to make an ugly sketch to make it by a certain time isn't worth it. Sometimes I'm better off sleeping.
Daily or near-daily practice is really important in improving art, no matter how difficult to find the time.
Cutesy cartoon-like drawings are currently my strong suit (what I and others seem to like most) while I have trouble with more complicated pen designs.
Drawing from a prompt is helpful when I don't have anything to draw but can hinder my creativity when I have another really good idea. 
Colors are not everything in a drawing! It's really important to learn how to form actual drawings and shapes.

I hope you've learned along with me and enjoyed this month. Now I have more time to create full-scale drawings; I want to do more digital soon. Thanks for sticking with me!

Has anyone else been having problems x-ing out messages? Especially deviations. Within the last month there has been problems getting rid of messages, and it's really annoying me :l I can deal with it but clearing out my messages takes double the amount of time. 

If no one else has experienced this / fixed it maybe I should send DeviantART a message.

1. Probably the best experience of my life was going to Vidcon and I'm saving money to go again next year I'm really into watching YouTube and it was amazing getting to see all these people I recognized.

2. I volunteer at a cat shelter every Saturday and it's super fun. I love animals, even though I've never owned a dog or cat, but I want to have both someday.

3. I love makeup. It was a surprising obsession, starting around freshman year, but I really do enjoy it. 

4. I want to get a pixie cut someday. I think I'll do it before I go to college. I'm kind of terrified though, lol.

5. I have a huge YouTube music playlist of over 100 songs, ranging from classical piano to Japanese metal pop music.

6. I am obsessed with the show Steven Universe. It's pretty much the only show I've been watching on TV for the last couple years. 

7. One day I stumbled upon the phrase "highly sensitive person" on the internet and I think it applies to me?? Apparently 20% of the population is extra sensitive to emotion and stuff, it's interesting, look it up.

8. I would love to have kids someday. I also really want to adopt. 

9. I can easily sleep 10+ hours on weekends. I love sleep. Lol. When I sleep too long though I get a headache for the rest of the day...

10. I am trying to learn how to creative write. I am not very good at it at the moment, and I have a journal and Google Docs folder filled with crappy stories and weird poems. 

11. I just finished a 4000 word essay about artist Vladimir Kush. Wahoo.

12. I prefer video games to reading. I rarely pick up books and read. Instead I like to read the news online a lot.

13. I really want to go to the Japan 2020 Olympics, so I'm planning on saving up money over the next 4 years.

1.) If you were a type of food, what type would you be, and why?

Um... candy probably? Maybe sour candy... sweet but occasionally annoying lol

2.) What's your favorite movie and why? Give a lil description in case someone's not familiar, but no spoilers!

I like a lot of movies... I really love the movie Up, an animated movie about an old man who tries to fly his house to South America with balloons 

3.) What's your favorite song lyric, and what song/artist is it from?

I don't think I have one. I like a lot of Lorde's lyrics.

4.) What country are you from? What do you think your country is best at compared to other countries, or what do you like best about it?

I'm from the US. I used to have a lot of pride in my country but not anymore. I don't really know what the US is best at. Everyone hates us. Lol *falls on floor* I wouldn't want to live for a long time anywhere else though.

5.) What's your favorite holiday, and why?

I love Christmas, just because it's nostalgic and fun and all our family comes over to be together.

6.) What does love mean to you? How does it feel, what does it make you think about?

Um... this is difficult. For my entire life it's been unrequited so doesn't feel so great to me *falls on floor again*

7.) Do you believe in aliens and/or ghosts?

I used to believe in ghosts and in fact be obsessed with them as a child. I would spend hours on shady ghost-hunting websites being freaked out. But I don't believe in them at all anymore. As for aliens, as a child I would be terrified of them but believe in them, now I still believe in them. I think they're out there somewhere.

8.) What artistic medium do you feel you work best with? Which medium do you think you need to practice more with?

I love copic markers and acrylic paint. I want to practice more with oil paint and clay.

9.) Who was your first crush, and what are they like now?

Oh god, I was in 7th grade and he was in 8th. He's off to college now, kind of weirds me out that I probably won't ever see him again. He became a lot less funny/happy-go-lucky as time went on.

10.) Do you have any quirky/funny personal beliefs of interest to your watchers?

I'm trying to rid myself of superstition, so I don't have many weird beliefs at the moment. 

11.) What era of music do you think is the best (and I won't judge you if you don't say 60's even though that's my favorite)?

I like all eras of music. Seriously, my music range is ridiculous. I like classical music from the 15th century, Simon and Garfunkel, and dubstep haha

12.) Can you do that thing where you twist your tongue into that clover shape (probably google it if you don't know what I mean)?

No I wish!

13.) Do you believe in magic...in a young girl's heart?

Uhh... sure!

Since my journals seem to be bi-yearly lately I thought I'd do a quick update!

Yup, it is summer! I've spent the last week cleaning crap in my house and I'm ready to ART until my hands fall off. I am in desperate need of commissions/art trades to fancy up my bedroom wall since I took off all the old art, so if you're willing to do an art trade tell me. (I don't have enough points yet for commissions.)

This year has been very hard for me but now that it's over I'm ready to start over with senior year. Last year of high school! I better enjoy this one!

The summer started off with the Orlando/Christina Grimmie shootings. Terrible tragedies. Wishing best for the families of the victims and hoping for stricter gun control laws.
